What are the steps Involved?
Are you an experienced / qualified nail tech? yes – you can sit your assessments. No – you need to do a beginners course and then you can sit your assessments when you have gained some vocational practice.
NVQ assessments are about proving you can do your job and practical experience in the work place either as a mobile or salon based tech is important.
Unit 7 - Manicure
There are 3 assessments for the manicure unit to include a full manicure with a paraffin wax treatment, full manicure with an exfoliation treatment and a full manicure using thermal mitts.
Unit 8 - Pedicure
There are 3 assessments for the pedicure unit to include a full pedicure with a paraffin wax treatment, full pedicure with an exfoliation treatment and a full pedicure to include a Mask and using thermal booties.
Unit 22 - Nail Enhancements
There are 6 assessments for this unit:
Acrylic - a full set of pink and white sculpts and a full set of tip and overlays.
Gel - full set of pink and white sculpts and a full set of tip and overlays
Fibre/Silk - a full set of tip and overlays and natural nail overlay
Unit 23 - Maintenance
There are 5 assessments for this unit:
Infills - a natural nail infill using gel and a backfill of a pink and white using acrylic.
Cosmetic Enhancements - a single tip and overlay to match client’s natural nails and repair a crack a crack in a natural nail.
Removal - removal of acrylic enhancements.
